Oman announces three new development projects in these governorates

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning announced that the “Rathath Boulevard” project in the Dhofar Governorate, the “Aames Bay” development project in the Musandam Governorate, and the “Rimal Park” project in the Al Batinah South Governorate won a competition for the best proposal for a development project that can be implemented in one of its states.

This came during the open meeting that brought together officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning with Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Governors, which was held today in Muscat.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning evaluates these proposals and compares them to choose the best one according to agreed-upon controls, and they will be announced later, and then the Ministry of Finance provides financial allocations for the first three winning projects.

This initiative aims to encourage the governorates to find development projects that are compatible with the outputs of the National Strategy for Urban Development – the spatial template and the urban wave of “Oman Vision 2040” within the national priority “development of governorates and sustainable cities”, and an incentive to compete in creating new and innovative projects.

The number of competing projects in the competition was 11 projects from all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, represented in the Shatti Al Qurum Park project in the Wilayat of Bausher, the Rathath Boulevard project in Itin in the Wilayat of Salalah, the Aames Bay development project in the Khalidiya area in the Wilayat of Khasab, the Down Town project in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi, and the Interior Boulevard project in the Farq area.

In the Wilayat of Nizwa, the Difaf project in the Wilayat of Sohar, the Rimal Park project in Khubt Al-Jaadan in the Wilayat of Nakhal, the Marine Innovation Pier project in the Wilayat of Al-Aija in the Wilayat of Sur, the Resources Market project in the Wilayat of Sinaw, the Ibri Cultural and Entertainment Center project in the Wilayat of Ibri, and the Haima Facade project in the Wilayat of Haima.

A committee was formed headed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, with the membership of: the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, and the Implementation Follow-up Unit of “Oman Vision 2040.” The committee evaluated the competing projects according to the specified criteria through visual presentations and an integrated explanation of these projects.

In the first phase of the evaluation, five governorates were qualified: “Dhofar, Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Batinah South, and Al Sharqiyah North”, where the committee submitted the results of the evaluation to the Financial and Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers to select the three winning governorates.

His Excellency Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al Ma’awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, said: This initiative aims to develop the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and support development projects in them, noting that the evaluation of these projects comes according to a set of criteria related to economic return, social dimension, environmental dimensions and sustainability.

The open meeting comes between the officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and their Highnesses, Excellencies and Excellencies the Governors; In implementation of the royal directives that all units of the state’s administrative apparatus should coordinate with the governors in all matters relating to the affairs of their governorates, to ensure complementarity in performance, and to prevent duplication and scattering of efforts.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning presented a visual presentation on the Sultan Haitham City project, and reviewed the royal directives to strengthen housing assistance programs and their implementation mechanism, in addition to the addressing system project.

The meeting dealt with the ministry’s future plans and projects within the outputs of the urban strategy, projects of the National Initiative for Integrated Residential Neighborhoods “Sorouh”, integrated services plans for Sorouh, investment aspects related to usufruct lands, promotion of decentralization, and granting powers to general managers in the governorates.
