Muscat: The supply of electric vehicles and their parts is subject to VAT at a rate of zero percent (0%) in accordance with the following conditions and controls said Oman tax on Sunday.
The car must have a fully electric motor or a hydrogen-powered engine, and be able to move independently.
The vehicle must be registered in the Sultanate of Oman as an electric car or a zero-emission vehicle (hydrogen car) in accordance with the applicable procedures.
The specifications of the vehicle must comply with the specifications and standards approved in the Sultanate of Oman.
The car must be purchased from a person who registers in VAT in the Sultanate of Oman.
Subject to tax at zero percent (0%) for essential spare parts used exclusively in electric vehicles or zero-emission vehicles (hydrogen vehicles) by a service supplier who registered in VAT in the Sultanate of Oman.
An electric vehicle or a zero-emission vehicle (hydrogen vehicle) is subject to zero percent (0%), it means that no tax is imposed on it when it is being imported whether it is imported by persons registered in VAT or not. This is in accordance with the procedures in force by the General Administration of Customs, and in accordance with the customs tariff items allocated to it.
