Oman annual camel racing festival kicks off on Tuesday in Sohar

Sohar: The sixth leg of the annual festival of camel races for the 18th season (2020/2021 AD), organized by the Sultanate Haggana with the Royal Court Affairs, will start on Sohar Square in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

The race, which will be held over a period of two days, includes / 45 / runs for different groups, where on the first day / 30 / runs are held in two shifts in the morning and evening. In the morning period / 19 / runs for the category / pilgrims / for a distance of / 3 / km, of which / 13 / way / for al-Bakr /, and in the first three rounds, the Naq, who won the ranks from the first to the third, will qualify for the His Majesty the Sultan Cup, to be held during the period from 22 to 25 March 2021, while it will qualify from the fourth round to the tenth term Al-Naq, who won the first and second places, And 6 runs for Al-Qa’dan without qualifying.

As for the evening period, to the category of “remnants” for a distance of 4 kilometers, and includes / 11 / runs, of which / 8 / runs, and in the first half the camel who won the positions from the first to the tenth will qualify for the Cup of His Majesty the Sultan, while it qualifies from the round. The second through the sixth period the Al-Naq, who won the first three places, and the three rounds designated for Al-Qa’dan will not include qualification for the Cup.

On the second day, the race will take place in the morning period and it includes / 15 / races allocated / 6 / for the category / Al-Jada / for a distance of 5 km, of which / 4 / races / for the baccarat /, and you will qualify in the first half of the Al-Naq who won the ranks from the first to the tenth, The Al-Naq, who won the first five places, qualifies in the second and third halves, and two rounds of the two seasons are held without qualification.

The second day includes the establishment of two laps / for the long ardha run / for the folds and squint categories for a distance of a kilo and a half, and the camel who won the first ten places will qualify.
