Oman Athletics Federation: Gulf Games Results Reflect Growth of Omani Athletics

Doha:  Saeed bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Athletics Federation, affirmed that the results achieved by Omani athletes at the 4th Gulf Games currently taking place in Doha reflect the continuous development of athletics in the Sultanate of Oman at both regional and international levels.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Hajri said that the achievements are the outcome of the support provided by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in addition to the dedication and determination demonstrated by Omani athletes during the tournament.

He explained that the athletics team secured 11 medals from 14 participations, reflecting the technical and administrative efforts undertaken by the federation through structured preparation programmes and development plans.

Al Hajri noted that the achievement was the result of strategic planning and integrated preparation programmes aimed at raising the performance levels of male and female athletes.

He added that the results represent a strong motivation to continue enhancing the path of achievements and strengthening Oman’s presence in regional and international sporting events.

Regarding future plans, Al Hajri said that the federation is focusing on sustaining performance levels through intensified local and overseas preparation programmes, as well as organizing advanced training camps in cooperation with international technical experts.

He added that the federation is also working to develop national technical cadres, strengthen refereeing and coaching systems, and enhance the role of talent development centres in preparing future generations capable of continuing sporting achievements and representing the Sultanate of Oman in various competitions.
