Oman attaches great importance to achieving the UN agenda

New York: The Sultanate of Oman has confirmed that its future vision “Oman 2040” and the goals of “Sustainable Development 2030” receive great attention from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al-Muazzam – may God protect and preserve him – and reflect the established values ​​​​in Omani society that are based on the principles of peace, coexistence, sustainability, equality, justice and community involvement.

The Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al Hassan, said in his speech at the high-level political forum on sustainable development, which is being held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, which is currently being held in New York: The Sultanate of Oman attaches great importance to achieving the UN agenda, since its ratification in September 2015, by integrating the goals of sustainable development 2030 with the national priorities and goals of the future vision “Oman 2040”.

His Excellency added that the Sultanate of Oman intends to reach zero carbon neutrality by 2050, and the Sultanate’s plans focus on renewable energy projects to produce hydrogen and green hydrogen as one of the renewable energy alternatives, and there is a tendency to make the Sultanate of Oman a global center for hydrogen production, in addition to emphasizing the country’s readiness to transform into the era of knowledge, innovation, industry, and infrastructure development to create sustainable cities and communities, through the basic system of the state.

He stressed that education is a right for every citizen, and the Sultanate of Oman encourages the establishment of private and private schools, institutes and universities, in accordance with regulations and laws, while preserving the quality of education, and that admission to higher education is available to all on an equal footing and on the basis of competence and merit.

His Excellency pointed out that the freedom of scientific research and intellectual creativity in the Sultanate of Oman is guaranteed, and the state is keen to encourage and sponsor researchers, innovators, creators, and the advancement of arts and literature, and the protection and maintenance of the tangible and intangible national heritage and its restoration is a national duty, and the state is keen on that and seeks to recover what was seized from it.

The permanent representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations stated that attacking the Omani national heritage or illegal trade in it is a crime punishable by law, and that the Sultanate of Oman is keen to fulfill all its international and regional obligations towards various organizations and friendly and brotherly countries by implementing all the agreements it ratified with those organizations with all countries of the world, and its awareness of its responsibility as an active member of the international community, especially issues of sustainability and common priority, while supporting international efforts for a better future for the present and the future.
