Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries announced the start of ban on fishing and trading of kingfish in the Sultanate for this year 2020, starting from next Saturday, corresponding to 15 August, to until 15th October 2020, based on the provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. (230/2014).
The Ministry warned all fishermen, fish transporters, companies, institutions, hotels, restaurants, and individuals who deal in fishing, transport, purchase, sale, circulation and export of the kingfish to abide by the provisions of the aforementioned ministerial decision.
It also stressed the need to review the fish development departments and centers in the states to record the quantities of kingfish they have before the entry into force of the aforementioned ban period, adding that trading and exporting kingfish will not be allowed during the ban period unless they have been registered.
The Ministry called on all concerned to cooperate in the interest of the public and to avoid legal procedures and penalties against violators of the provisions of the ministerial decision.
