Muscat: Oman’s Supreme Committee has decided to impose ban on passengers coming from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the wake of rising coronavirus cases.

The Supreme Committee in charge of discussing the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), within the framework of its continuous session headed by His Excellency Mr. Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, followed the developments of this pandemic, measures to prevent it and ways to avoid its spread.

The committee studied the epidemiological situation in the Sultanate and at the world level in general, and what the local reports of the pre-polymerization tests required of those coming to the Sultanate’s lands indicate the effects of the global epidemiological situation on public health in the Sultanate in particular, especially with the confirmed spread of mutated strains in it and associated with travel. And the increase in its spread in the Sultanate, and the effects of this on the health system and health workers, and protection for the rest of the community from further outbreaks of this disease, the Supreme Committee decided the following:

Adding those coming from the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Bangladesh and those coming from any other country if they had passed through any of these countries during the 14 days preceding the application for entry to the Sultanate to the list of countries that previously decided to suspend entry to those coming from them to the Sultanate, starting from 6 pm in the evening on Saturday April 24, 2021  until further notice, with the exception of Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families, and the excluded groups will be subject to the procedures adopted upon entering the Sultanate.
