Oman Broadband Company’s fibre optic network reached 301,000 active subscribers

Muscat: The number of subscribers to the Oman Broadband Company’s fibre optic network reached 301,000 active subscribers by the end of October 2024, while the total number of covered units reached about 881,103 units.

It is expected that the number of covered units will reach one million units in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman during the coming year.

Eng. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Broadband Company, said that the total number of subscribers in Muscat reached 169,052, with a subscription rate of 56.2 percent, while the total number of subscribers to the fiber optic service in Al Buraimi Governorate reached 7,059, with a subscription rate of 2.6 percent.

He added that the total number of subscribers in South Al Batinah reached 29,482, with a subscription rate of 9.8 percent, while in North Al Batinah the number of subscribers reached 40,760, with a subscription rate of 13.5 percent, and the total number of subscribers in Al Dhahirah Governorate reached 6,918, with a subscription rate of 2.3 percent.

He pointed out that the total number of subscribers in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached 9,159, with a subscription rate of 3 percent, the total number of subscribers in Al Wusta Governorate reached 552, with a subscription rate of 0.2 percent, the total number of subscribers in Dhofar Governorate reached 17,712, with a subscription rate of 5.9 percent, the total number of subscribers in Musandam Governorate reached 1,989, with a subscription rate of 0.7 percent, the total number of subscribers in North Al Sharqiyah reached 4,536, with a subscription rate of 1.5 percent, and the total number of subscribers in South Al Sharqiyah reached 11,240, with a subscription rate of 3.7 percent.

For his part, Eng. Yarjan bin Amitan Al Balushi, Director General of Service Delivery, confirmed that the Oman Broadband Company strives to provide distinguished services that support the main telecommunications service providers in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to operating the largest fiber optic network in the country.

This is done through a highly qualified, specialized Omani team, in addition to a number of contractors and technicians spread across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, where the company provides comprehensive training programs to enhance their skills and develop their capabilities, ensuring that the fiber optic network reaches the widest possible geographical area in the Sultanate of Oman.
