Oman Broadband Governorates Marathon begins in Al Dhahirah Governorate

Ibri: The first edition of the Omani Broadband Marathon for Governorates was held today in the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in cooperation with the Omani Athletics Federation, and with official sponsorship from the Oman Broadband Company.

The activities were sponsored by His Excellency Najeeb bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, in the presence of a number of officials and a crowd of fans from various states of the governorate.

The holding of the Governorates Marathon comes under the directives of His Highness Sayyid Yazan bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, and in line with the “Oman 2040” vision, as this approach comes in order to create a platform for runners throughout the Sultanate of Oman, to enhance community partnership for various age groups to adopt healthy lifestyle.

The marathon was held in three tracks: a 10-kilometer track for the age group of 15 years and above for both genders, a 6-kilometer track for the age group of 12 years and above for both genders, and a track for children from 7 to 12 years of age for both genders.

The goal of organizing the marathon race is to create a sporting event to become a high-quality, sustainable community icon, in addition to instilling a culture of practicing sports and physical activity in Omani society so that it becomes a way of life and improving opportunities for practicing physical and sporting activities for segments of society, in addition to activating the optimal use of sports facilities and facilities and enhancing constructive cooperation.

Between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and governmental and private institutions, based on the values ​​of integration and effective partnership.

The marathon events program also included the establishment of an entertainment village, which included various activities for the public and attendees, in addition to activities for small and medium enterprises.

The marathon activities concluded with the crowning and honoring of the first-place winners in the various previous tracks, which reflects the keenness of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth to advance various sports fields in order to raise an athletic generation that achieves sports achievements at the local, regional and international levels.
