Oman Broadband Marathon Marathon kicks off in Sur

Sur: The Oman Governorate Broadband Marathon competitions began this evening from the Fath Al-Khair Center in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, in its ninth stop, with the participation of more than 800 competitors from different age groups.

The organization of this event coincides with the selection of the Wilayat of Sur as the capital of Arab tourism and an effort by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in partnership with the Omani Athletics Federation and Sabco Sports Company, with official sponsorship from the Oman Broadband Company, and a strategic and technical partnership with the Qatari Aspire Zone Foundation, in order to encourage the community to practice sports. To be a way of life and health, and to work to enhance sports, economic and tourism growth in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The start of the race was from the Fath Al-Khair Center, which is one of the landmarks of Tire’s maritime history. The stages of the race included 3 age levels distributed over different distances. The first level: children’s race for the age group from 7-12 years, and a two-kilometre distance was allocated for the contestants. The second level: 5 kilometers. For the age group of 13-17 years, while the third level has 10 kilometers allocated for the age group of 18 years and above.

The marathon was also accompanied by entertainment and promotional events for the public, and marketing corners for medium and small enterprises to display their products.
