Oman celebrates ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will participate  with the countries in the celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls on 26th June of each year under the slogan (People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination and Promote Prevention), and aims to raise awareness of how Optimally dealing with people who use drugs and providing voluntary services that help them recover, as well as providing alternatives to punishment and giving priority to prevention.

Colonel Saeed bin Salem Al Maawali, Assistant Director General of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, said: The celebration of the International Day for Drug Control comes to highlight the efforts made by the Royal Oman Police and all concerned institutions to combat drugs in order to protect society from this epidemic and spread awareness culture to create an informed generation. He added that the activities of this year’s celebration include holding exhibitions and awareness lectures on the prevention of drugs and psychotropic substances in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
