The Sultanate of Oman will join the world in celebrating World Braille Day tomorrow 4th January. With the aim of raising public awareness about Braille as a means of communication for the blind and visually impaired.
Sameh bin Salman Al-Tuwaijri, Head of the Programs and Activities Committee at Al-Noor Association for the Blind, said: “Braille is dot codes that have been approved by specialized authorities, as each language has certain symbols for letters, mathematical symbols, and other signs.”
He added, “There are many initiatives by some government and private institutions and agencies; Including printing numbers on elevator and door buttons, and the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism printed Braille on some medicines and tourist brochures.
