Oman concludes its participation at Seoul International Book Fair 2024

Seoul: The Sultanate of Oman concluded its participation in the Seoul International Book Fair 2024, where it was a special guest to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Omani-Korean diplomatic relations.

The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the exhibition was represented by a number of government institutions, namely the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, in addition to the participation of the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and some sources of intellectual production from civil and private society institutions.

The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion, which was inspired by the Omani architectural design through a combination of modernity and contemporaneity, included a group of corners, namely: “the Omani publications corner represented by government institutions and civil society institutions (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth / Ministry of Information / Ministry of Heritage and Tourism / Cultural Club / Writers and Authors Association), the Arabic calligraphy corner (live and direct display), the rare Omani manuscripts corner, and the Omani council corner that offers Omani hospitality (coffee / dates / Omani sweets) through which the visitor learns about Omani customs and traditions, in addition to displaying some Omani cultural vocabulary registered on the UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (the art of Al-Bar’ah – the Omani dagger – cultural spaces “drinking Omani coffee”) through which the visitor can experience these cultural vocabulary and live them through (VR) technology and visual presentations about cultural and tourist sites in the Sultanate of Oman.

The pavilion, with its many corners that included cultural, historical, heritage and tourism vocabulary, received great interaction from the Korean audience visiting the exhibition and the pavilion. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Harithi – Director General of Knowledge and Cultural Development at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, said that the Sultanate of Oman’s participation focused on diversity in cultural vocabulary and highlighting the aesthetics of Omani culture and the rich heritage with its cultural, civilizational, artistic and tourism stock, in addition to the good selection of participating publications from Several destinations in the Sultanate of Oman and cultural program activities highlighting the historical relations between the two friendly countries. He added, “Participation also focuses on the Omani writer and novelist and his presence through dialogue sessions and highlighting his role and presence in the Omani cultural scene, within the general cultural program of the Seoul International Book Fair.”
