    • Oman decides the new school academic year from November 2020, says Supreme Committee

    Muscat: The Supreme Committee in charge of discussing the mechanism of deaing with developments resulting from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) held a meeting today, Thursday morning, headed by His Excellency Mr Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, at the Ministry of Education building.

    After its meeting, the committee issued two decisions, which are as follows:

    1, The start of the year 2020-2021 for all students on Sunday , corresponding to 1st November 2020, and members of the teaching staff and related jobs on Sunday approved 27th September 2020. The academic days shall not be less than 180 days of study effectively, and vacation of students and members of teaching and associated jobs shall be aligned with this decision accordingly.

    2, Adopting hybrid education for all schools, students will go to school for some classes and will attend other classes through distance learning, in accordance with the controls and regulations to be issued by the Ministry of Education.
