Oman deports 245 expat workers in a week: MoL

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has carried out inspection campaign in Muscat which resulted in the arrest of more than 170 expat workers and deported over 240 workers from Oman in one week from 21 May – 27 May 2023.

In a statement Ministry of Labour said: “With the aim of following up on the non-Omani workforce and the extent of its compliance with the provisions of the Labor Law, the Ministry of Labor, represented by the General Directorate of Labor Welfare (the joint inspection team), conducted an inspection campaign in the Governorate of Muscat during the period from 5/21/2023 to 5/27/2023.”

A number of (179) workers were arrested in violation of the provisions of the Labor Law, including (81) workers who left work and work is underway to take legal measures against them, and (245) violating workers were deported during the same period.
