Oman – Egypt Meeting Marks Muscat Arab Digital Capital 2022 

Muscat (ONA): Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology held today an online meeting with Dr. Amr Talaat, Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

Al Ma’awali expressed his delight in Oman’s winning of the 3rd edition of the Arab Digital Capital 2022 initiative. The first winner of the initiative was the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, followed by the Republic of Egypt in the second edition. 

He also underscored Oman’s keenness in developing the communications and information technology sector through various initiatives that aim to enhance the sector’s infrastructure, legislations and to groom institutional and individual abilities. Oman aims to increase digital awareness among all segments of the society to move towards a digital economy based on Oman Vision 2040.

The meeting was attended by undersecretaries specialists and advisors representing the communications and information technology fields. It was also attended by representatives from Oman’s and Egypt’s foreign ministers, the Arab league and the Arab regional office of the International Telecommunication Union.
