Oman’s Net Electricity Production Rises 15.6% by March 2026

Muscat:  Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated an increase in electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of March 2026.

Total electricity production rose by 16 percent to reach 10,544 gigawatt-hours, compared to 9,091.4 gigawatt-hours during the same period in 2025.

Net electricity production, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, increased by 15.6 percent to reach 10,216.1 gigawatt-hours, compared to 8,840.5 gigawatt-hours in the corresponding period last year.

The data reflects growth in electricity demand and consumption.

In contrast, water production declined by 2.8 percent to reach 118,412.6 million cubic meters.

Muscat Governorate recorded the highest decrease of 5.2 percent, with production falling to 46,259 million cubic meters, compared to 48,787.4 million cubic meters during the same period in 2025.

Water production in other governorates declined by 2.4 percent to 53,206.1 million cubic meters, while Dhofar Governorate recorded an increase of 2.5 percent, reaching 18,947.5 million cubic meters.
