Muscat: There are no Omani citizens among those dead or injured in the devastating Turkey earthquake, and we urge everyone in the Turkish Republic to communicate with the Omani Embassy in case of any assistance, said the acting advisor of the Omani embassy in the Republic of Turkey.
Counselor Ibrahim bin Suleiman Al-Hasani, Chargé d’Affaires of the Omani Embassy in the Republic of Turkey, confirms to Times of Oman that there are no cases of Omani citizens among the dead or injured as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and parts of Syria and Cyprus on Monday morning.
Counselor Al-Hasani also confirmed that the embassy has communicated with the concerned Turkish authorities represented by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior to follow up on the developments of the devastating earthquake that claimed the lives of hundreds, including dead and wounded, adding that they have been assured that there are no Omani citizens among them so far, and they will be informed of everything that is new.
The Counselor also indicated that the embassy tried to communicate with a number of Omani citizens in the areas affected by the earthquake, but their phones were switched off due to the interruption of the internet and electricity in these affected areas, adding that text messages were sent to their phones to check on their condition and respond to them if they were read.
Counselor Ibrahim Al-Hasani also said: “We urge everyone to contact the Omani Embassy in the Turkish Republic for any assistance or inquiries, on the embassy’s numbers.”
On the other hand, a statement issued online by the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Republic of Turkey confirmed that The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Turkey is following the earthquake that struck Kahramanmaraş Governorate, and the affected states in Turkey, and confirms that it is in contact with the relevant official authorities to check on the Omanis citizens.”
