Oman ends PCR rules for fully vaccinated arriving passengers

Muscat: As part of its ongoing convening, the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from covid-19 has followed up updates on the pandemic, means to protect the public against the disease and ways to curb its spread.

The Supreme Committee studied reports about the current situation of Covid-19 in the Sultanate of Oman, noting that a decline in the epidemiological curve has been observed. This is coupled with a drop in the number of registered daily cases at intensive care units (ICUs) and hospitalization wards. The number of Covid-19 patients also diminished, according to the reports.

Accordingly, the Supreme Committee took the following decision, to be enforced from tomorrow (Tuesday) 1 March,2022

Firstly, Passengers arriving into the Sultanate of Oman have to show proof of two-dose vaccination with any vaccines approve in Oman, while PCR test proof is not required.

Secondly, wearing of masks is compulsory only indoors (in closed halls)

Thirdly, hotel establishments can now operate with 100% capacity.

The Supreme Committee also decided to allow the system of direct education at 100% capacity of schools at all levels of study will effect from 6 march 2022, but without prejudice to precautionary health measures.

The Supreme Committee stresses the need to continue abiding by a 70% attendance capacity at halls, tents and other venues hosting conferences, local and international exhibitions and mass gathering public activities, without prejudice to previously endorsed procedures and all precautionary measures.

The committee affirmed that it will continue to follow up local developments and international updates and take appropriate decisions accordingly.
