Oman Film Society reviews experience of Al Din International Festival

Muscat: The Oman Film Society organized a dialogue session entitled “Al Din International Festival… Aspirations, Challenges and Results.” Speaking at the session, which was held in Muscat, were Mohammed Al-Nabhani, head of the Al-Din troupe for culture and art, and Mahmoud Al-Aghbari, head of the media team of the theatrical troupe.

Al-Nabhani pointed out the need for theatrical festivals in the Sultanate of Oman with the aim of continuing the cultural movement, strengthening the efforts of theatrical groups and persevering in increasing competitive artistic production. There are theater groups whose artistic production is linked to participation in festivals.

He touched on the idea of ​​establishing the Al-Din Theater Festival, and the birth of its idea as a result of members’ participation. At international festivals, through to holding the first version locally in 2015, which turned to street theatre, and was reinforced with specific standards and requirements.

He explained that the Al-Din Theater Festival reduces 3 festivals into one: a festival for children’s theatre, a festival for street theatre, and a festival for adult theatre.

Mahmoud Al-Aghbari spoke about the goal of holding the Al-Din Theater Festival, which is a focus related to cultural tourism, as it came to achieve investment in the cultural sector, explaining that the number of people who visited the festival in its last session reached 22,000 visitors.

He pointed out that the workshops accompanying the Al-Din International Festival were characterized by a large attendance, and this is due to the careful selection of those who present these workshops, most of whom are guests who have a long history in the theatrical field.
