Oman Food Bank continues its efforts in charitable work

Muscat: The Oman Food Bank continues its efforts in the field of charitable work by preserving food and distributing it to those who deserve it in an effective manner, within the framework of achieving the concept of social solidarity and giving in society.

Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Hosani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Food Bank, says: The bank was established in 2021 with the aim of spreading the culture of preserving grace among members of society, providing food aid to beneficiaries, and contributing to achieving food security. The bank is considered a non-profit commercial company registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Promotion. Investment.

The amount of food preservation that the Food Preservation Bank dealt with until the end of last November amounted to 33.2 tons of cooked food, while the amount of vegetables and fruits amounted to 51.16 tons, and the number of food baskets distributed to families reached more than 5,000 food baskets.

He added that the bank is keen to organize its priorities related to the sustainable environment axis by working to achieve a balance between environmental, economic and social requirements, and working with the rules of sustainable development to create environmental environments of high quality and free of pollution, according to a green and circular economy that responds to national needs and is consistent with the global trend, in addition to raising the environmental awareness inherent in the effective application of the rules of sustainable consumption and production, with the sustainable use and investment of natural resources and wealth to ensure the achievement of high added value.

He explained that the bank has four branches that preserve food and distribute it to those who are eligible, noting that there are awareness efforts undertaken by the bank by raising community awareness of the importance of preserving food and introducing the bank’s role to the community. The “permanent recycling” project was recently implemented, which means recycling Continuous recycling and processing of waste to produce soil-enhancing fertilizer.
