Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has helped in the successful release of detainees held in Iran and Belgium.
In a statement Foreign Ministry of Oman said: “In compliance with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, to fulfill the requests of the Iranian and Belgian governments to assist in resolving the issue of detained citizens in both countries, the Omani efforts have resulted in an agreement, between the two sides for a mutual exchange deal. The individuals who were released have been transported from Tehran and Brussels to Muscat today, Friday, May 26, 2023, in preparation for their return to their respective countries.
The Sultanate of Oman appreciates the positive high level spirit that prevailed during the discussions in Muscat between the Iranian and Belgian sides, and their commitment to resolving this humanitarian issue.”
