Oman hosts international conference on standards to help air crash victims and their families

Muscat: An international conference titled “Helping Victims of Airline Accidents and their Families” kicked off in Muscat today. As many as 200 experts specialized in the field of aviation safety are taking part in the two-day conference organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr.Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health. The conference aims to enlighten the organizations concerned about standards required by the ICAO in serving aircraft accident victims and their families, the obligations of member states and airline firms, and the role of the aviation sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

The first day’s activities dealt with applications of ICAO air safety standards and the responsibility of member states during air accidents, among other topics.
