

Total number of hotel guests in the Sultanate of Oman decreased by 56.6% compared to the same period in 2019
Muscat: Omani hotels total revenue with a rating of 3 to 5 stars category fell by 54.5 percent to RO58 Million until the end of the July 2020 compare to the same period of 2019 to RO 127.60 Million,
According to the preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre of Statistics and Information (NCSI), hotel occupancy rates drops to 44.5 percent to reach 29.5 percent by the end of July 2020 against 53.3% for the same period of 2019.
The total number of hotel guests with a rating of 3 to 5 stars decreased by the end of July 2020, by 56.6%, reaching 428,884 guests, compared to the same period in 2019, during which the number of guests from 989,218 guests, according to the preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.
The statistics indicated that European guests constituted the largest number of the total number of visitors by the end of July 2020, reaching 156,026, followed by the Omani guests by 150,760, then the Asian visitors who numbered 38,753 guests, as per the data released by NCSI
There was an overall drop in the number of guests of all nationalities until the end of July, with American guests and GCC guests falling by 60.9 percent and 69.6 percent to reach 14,959 and 32,666 guests, respectively.
There was also a drop in the number of African, Oceanian and other Arab guests by 56.1 percent, 46.3 percent and 67.3 percent to reach 2,874; 4,668, and 13,865 guests, respectively.
Omani hotels received 1.77m guests and the hotels generated a total revenue of RO229.5m which is ($597m) in previous year 2019.
Oman has reported 740 new cases of coronavirus on Monday bringing the total covid-19 cases in the sultanate to 84,509, with total deaths at 637.
