Oman Human Rights Commission concludes its participation in meeting of Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions

Geneva: The delegation of the Omani Commission for Human Rights, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Ambassador Humaid bin Ali Al-Ma’ni, Vice-Chairman of the Commission for Human Rights, concluded its participation in the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, and the accompanying events and meetings that were held at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

In its closing statement, the meeting emphasized the main role of national human rights institutions in contributing to strengthening the human rights system, advancing just and safe societies around the world, and promoting and protecting fundamental rights and freedoms.

It welcomed the progress made by states in establishing and strengthening national human rights institutions in line with the principles of Paris; there are more than 120 national human rights institutions around the world.
