Oman Human Rights Commission Participates in introductory training program in Netherlands

Hague: The Oman Human Rights Commission and a number of civil society organizations participated in an introductory and training program on human rights in The Hague, Kingdom of Netherlands, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in the Sultanate of Oman, and it lasted for five days.

The program aimed to benefit from the experiences of the Kingdom of Netherlands at the national and international levels, and to learn about the best practices of national institutions in Netherlands through cooperation with civil society institutions, and to know the mechanism for integrating human rights concepts in the work of law enforcement agencies, in addition to exchanging experiences with the National Institution for Human Rights. In the Netherlands and the Office of the National Ombudsman, identifying future areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange projects between organizations in the Netherlands and the Omani Commission for Human Rights in relation to children’s rights, and the rights of juvenile prison inmates through the organization of field visits.

This program also comes within the framework of the continuous endeavor of the Omani Commission for Human Rights to strengthen its role externally and to benefit from the experiences of friendly countries to develop its work and responsibilities in society, in addition to strengthening partnership with community institutions in assuming responsibility and promoting joint action.

The team included a number of members and staff of the committee, and representatives of the Oman Journalists Association, the General Federation of Workers of the Sultanate of Oman, the Children First Association, and the Association of Children with Disabilities.
