Oman, India Holds Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi

New Delhi: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India held the 8th Oman-India Strategic Dialogue session on 17 and 18 January.

The Omani side at the talks was headed by Maj.Gen Idris Abdurrahman Al Kindi, Secretary General of the National Security Council, with the participation of Issa Saleh Al Shibani, Ambassador of Oman to India.

Meanwhile, the Indian side was headed by Vikram Misri, Deputy National Security Advisor. The talks discussed the two sides’ commitment to the close strategic partnership, highlighting the two countries leaderships’ priorities in consolidating the existing bilateral strategic relations based on mutual confidence and respect.

The two sides also touched on various issues of common concern and reiterated their determination to maintain maritime security and safety in the region.

They also underscored the need for collective action in combating terrorism. The two sides also agreed to hold the next round of strategic dialogue in Oman in 2024.

Within the context of the strategic dialogue, the Secretary General of the National Security Council met with Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor of the Republic of India.

The Omani delegation visited the Space Research Organization in Bangalore, where they had a close look at India’s experience and scopes for international cooperation in this field.

They also visited the Indian Institute of Science, which ranks as the best research center in India.
