Oman Industry Day: 5 agreement signed to promote industrial sector

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion celebrated today in Muscat the Omani Industry Day, which this year focused on promoting local content in the Sultanate of Oman, the initiatives of the Manufacturing Industries Laboratory and the industries of the future, and the launch of the Omani product logo and the Oman Numbering Center.

His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Musen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, said that the Ministry’s adoption of the policy of promoting local content comes to increase links between commercial entities and factories and empower small and medium enterprises by enhancing the production of goods and providing services provided locally and increasing the manufacturing capacity of the Sultanate of Oman and achieving integration between Industries and developing the skills and capabilities of the national workforce through training and qualification.

His Excellency added that the Ministry seeks, in cooperation with partners, to find appropriate capabilities to implement local added value programs, develop national exports, promote and attract direct local and foreign investments, localize supply chains and improve the business environment, stressing that the Ministry focuses on supporting national industries and opening new markets for them for export.

He explained that the ministry aims, by launching the international numbering system (barcode) for Omani goods and products, to raise the efficiency of the supply chain, facilitate the sales and marketing of Omani products, unify the marketing identity of the national product to create a unified national framework and encourage Omani industrial establishments to target new markets and raise local and foreign consumer awareness of the Omani products.
