Over 50 Drivers from 20 Countries Compete in Oman International Drift Championship
Muscat: The Oman International Drift Championship 2026, organized by the Oman Automobile Association, concluded this evening under the patronage of His Excellency Azzan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism. This year’s edition witnessed the participation of more than 50 competitors from over 20 countries.
The championship is regarded as one of the world’s strongest drifting events, distinguished by the application of the highest safety standards and strong public turnout, reinforcing the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a regional and international hub for motorsports.
In the International Category, Ahmed Daham claimed first place, followed by Tommy Keeley in second and Jack Shanahan in third.
In the Local Competitors Category, Ahmed Al Ameri secured first place, Tariq Al Shehani came second, and Ali Al Balushi finished third.
In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Category, Ahmed Daham took first place, Ahmed Al Ameri ranked second, and Khalifa Al Falasi came third.
This year’s championship also witnessed the participation of female competitors, marking an important step that reflects the growing diversity and development of drifting and enhances women’s presence in international motorsports competitions.
Held over two days at the Muscat Drift Arena as part of the Muscat Nights 2026 events, the championship featured preliminary rounds on the first day and final competitions on the second day. The event was marked by a highly competitive atmosphere, comprehensive logistical preparations, and fully equipped grandstands that welcomed large numbers of spectators.
The sustained organization of the Oman International Drift Championship over the past years reflects the strong confidence in the capabilities of the Oman Automobile Association and underscores the Sultanate of Oman’s role in supporting the growth of regional and international motorsports.
Motorsports continue to enjoy wide popularity in the Sultanate of Oman, with the association playing a pivotal role in hosting events in line with international standards and best practices, while providing young talents with guidance and support to ensure safe and professional organization.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, along with a large number of motorsports enthusiasts and drifting fans.
