Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued weather report (2) Weather over Arabian Sea, Tropical Cyclone Cat.1 (Biparjoy)
In a statement Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said: “The latest weather maps and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicates the development of tropical system to a tropical cyclone CAT 1 in the center of the Arabian Sea and it lay centered on latitude 12.9 N and longitude 66.4 E, wind speed around the center is estimated between 65 to 82 knots, 1140 km away from Sultanate coast, and It is likely to intensify to tropical cyclone CAT 2 during the next 24 hours with no direct impact on Sultanate of Oman weather within the next 3 days.
Tropical system details for the coming three days:
Thursday 8/6/2023: The tropical cyclone is likely to intensify to CAT 2, the wind speed around the center is estimated between 83 and 95 knots and it is likely to move north to northwest, associated with high clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea.
Friday 9/6/2023: The tropical cyclone is likely to intensify to CAT 3, the wind speed around the center is estimated between 96 to 112 knots and it is likely to move N to NW, associated with high clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea.
Caution, maximum wave height may reach 3 — 5 meters along South Al Sharqiya and Al Wusta governorates.
Saturday 10/6/2023: The continues of the tropical cyclone as CAT 3, it is likely to move north to northwest, associated with high clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea.
