    Muscat: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issues Weather alert (5) Heavy Rainfall ranging between 20-100mm, flash flood alert across parts of Oman

    In a statement CAA said: “Due to the expected heavy thunderstorms accompanied by strong downdraft winds and hail during this night and tomorrow morning over governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, , Al Dakhylia, Al Dhahira, North Al Sharqiya, South Al Sharqiya, Al Buraimi and Musandam with rainfall amounts ranging from 20-100 mm are anticipated, leading to flash flooding and wadis.with chance of isolated rain over parts of Musandam, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

    The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during thundershower rain, and not to cross Wadis (Flash Flood) and avoid low laying areas and not to sail during alert period.

    Alerts:

    Heavy thundershowers with hail are expected ranging (20 – 100 mm) may cause flash floods (Wadis).

    Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging 15 – 40 knots (28 – 75 km/h).

    Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2 – 3.5 meters).

    Reduction in horizontal visibility during thundershowers.
