Oman joins the world in celebrating the International Anti-Corruption Day 2023

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Financial and Administrative Control Authority, the international community, counterpart bodies and competent international organizations, participates in celebrating the International Anti-Corruption Day, which falls on December 9 of each year, which is the day on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

The designation of the International Anti-Corruption Day for the year 2023 – according to the United Nations General Assembly website – comes in order to focus on the close link between the fight against corruption, peace, security and development.

On this occasion; Senior Oversight Specialist Shabib bin Nasser Al Busaidi, Director General of the General Directorate of Legal Works and Head of the Integrity Promotion and Anti-Corruption Committee of the State Financial and Administrative Oversight Authority, explained that the solid structure emphasized by His Majesty the Great Sultan – is a clear message on everyone’s responsibility to build their nation with all sincerity and honesty and integrity in a way that preserves the nation’s capabilities and preserves its achievements, following the approach of prioritizing the nation’s interests over personal interests.

He added: The countries of the world are striving to maximize their role in promoting integrity, accountability and accountability in order to achieve the gains of development and progress and to achieve complete justice, so this year the slogan “Uniting the world against corruption for the sake of development, peace and security” was adopted. Al Busaidi stressed the importance of enhancing integrity, accountability, and accountability, and the importance of concerted international efforts as a result of the challenges posed by corruption that affect development patterns in societies and the stability of their economic and financial situation.

In his statement, Al Busaidi reviewed the main tracks of the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in general, the State Financial and Administrative Control Authority and the relevant government units in particular with regard to local activities in the field of enhancing integrity, accountability and accounting, which were represented in three main tracks for the years (2013 – 2023).

Senior Oversight Specialist Shabib bin Nasser Al Busaidi, Director General of the General Directorate of Legal Works, concluded his statement by noting that participating in International Anti-Corruption Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and educate about national efforts on the one hand, and the importance of institutional and community partnership in promoting integrity and promoting accountability and accountability on the other hand, in addition to raising awareness of the dangers of corruption.
