Oman launches Sultan Haitham City

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday presided over the inaugural ceremony of Sultan Haitham City at Bati al-Barka Palace. 

His Majesty the Sultan was briefed on the details of the smart city, which will be a new model for building sustainable cities and meeting aspirations of youth in Oman.

The city is planned on an area spanning 14,800,000sqm. The city boasts of vast landscaped area of over 2,900,000sqm, providing accommodation to 100,000 people, in 20,000 housing units.

The housing units are distributed over 19 neighbourhoods, complete with various facilities and services for the residents.

Each neighbourhood will have a shared sports facilities, high school, prep school, primary school, clinic, public halls, playground, car parking, mosque and an early learning centre. Overall, the city will have 39 schools, 11 healthcare facilities and 25 mosques.
