The occasion reaffirms the importance of promoting justice, equal opportunities and empowering all members of society across various fields.

This year’s national celebration, organized by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC), was held under the patronage of Sayyid Dr. Kamil Fahad Al Said, Secretary-General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers, with the attendance of several members of the Royal Family and senior officials.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of enhancing the presence and empowerment of persons with disabilities and reviewed national initiatives aimed at supporting their integration into society and the labour market.

During the event, the OHRC announced the graduation of the first cohort of certified trainers in the field of human rights, in cooperation with the Geneva Institute for Human Rights.

The programme included a short film on the Commission’s roles in monitoring rights, receiving complaints, raising awareness and promoting institutional cooperation. A documentary on national efforts to support persons with disabilities was also presented, along with a motion graphic outlining mechanisms for addressing related issues and key statistics. Students from Al Amal School for the Deaf delivered a musical performance that showcased creativity and expressive talent.

The ceremony concluded with the honouring of pioneering national initiatives for 2025 in the areas of employment, training and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. The OHRC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to protect human rights, uphold human dignity and strengthen partnerships that promote integration and sustainable empowerment.
