Oman marks World Water Day

Seeb: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources celebrated World Water Day, which falls on March 22 of every year, under the slogan “The importance of accelerating change… to solve the water and sanitation crisis.”

The Sultanate of Oman’s celebration of this occasion stems from its interest in the issue of water, as it is an essential pillar of sustainable development that should be taken care of and managed, which always requires enhancing awareness among the various segments of society of the importance of this precious resource and the necessity of preserving it.

Eng. Abdul Hameed bin Saleh Al Darmaki, Director of the Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources Department in the Governorate of Muscat, said: The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the celebration of World Water Day with the countries of the world, as the ministry has given most of its attention to preserving this vital element. By setting strategies, regulations and laws aimed at managing and developing water resources and ensuring their sustainability.

The celebration included a number of paragraphs, including various competitions in the fields of drawing, plastic arts, and scientific innovations on the water sector, in addition to poems, a theatrical show, and an awareness exhibition on water.

The ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Eng. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Abri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Water Resources, in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies and officials in the public and private sectors.
