Oman’s Minister of Culture sports and youth issues a ministerial decision

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Dhi Yazan bin Haitham bin Tarik, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, issued a ministerial decision to form a committee to prepare a draft cultural sector strategy under the chairmanship of HE Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan bin Yarub Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture.

The committee seeks to prepare and formulate a draft strategy for the cultural sector in the Sultanate and to set goals and indicators with the competent authorities in everything related to the culture sector and in a way that contributes to the realization of Oman 2040 vision, which is based on its foundations on strengthening the values of citizenship, identity and national culture.

The project aims to adopt a national cultural strategy that organizes and frames cultural work in the Sultanate, in line with the objectives of Oman 2040 Vision, in establishing, documenting, and publishing the principles of a society proud of its identity, citizenship and culture, and its global dissemination, and to emphasize the importance of activating an integrated institutional community partnership system that enhances identity, citizenship and social cohesion and keeps pace with developments in knowledge and technical changes.

It seeks to highlight the role of culture and the arts in helping to achieve sustainable development and social cohesion, in that together is based on sustainable investment that contributes to the growth of the national economy, parallel to a society capable of assessing, criticizing, employing, producing and disseminating knowledge.
