Oman Ministry Participates in 2nd Arab Media Conference in Tunisia

Tunis: The Ministry of Information participated in the activities of the second session of the Arab Media Conference, which was held today at the headquarters of the Arab States Broadcasting Union in the sister Republic of Tunisia.

Muhammad bin Fahd Al-Harthy, President of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, pointed out the need to confront digital domination and to confront it firmly, given its negative impact on the nation and on the Arab identity.

Abdullah bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Director General of the Directorate General of Information in Dhofar Governorate, said that this forum will establish national policies and an Arab strategy to deal with global digital dominance, pointing out that the Sultanate of Oman has a pioneering experience in the digital field.

The two-day conference, titled “Global Digital Hegemony and Arab Ways to Confront It,” will discuss digital challenges in the Arab world in the cultural, social, media, cybersecurity, child protection and personal privacy, in addition to reviewing global experiences in this field.

The conference was attended by His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Sanani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman accredited to the Republic of Tunisia, and a number of ministers and information officials in the Arab countries.
