Oman Named Guests of Honor at SPIEF 2024

Muscat: Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation Hamood bin Salim Al Tuwaih confirmed his country’s guest status at SPIEF during a meeting with Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.

Despite the current geopolitical situation, Russia continues to develop mutually beneficial relations with the Arab world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the participation of Arab leaders in SPIEF, the Russia–Africa Summit, and high-level summits in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. In recent years, Qatar, Egypt, and the UAE have all served as guest countries at SPIEF, and in 2024 this honor is being conferred upon the Sultanate of Oman. I have no doubt that Oman’s participation in SPIEF will spark an increase in trade and economic relations between our countries and make it possible for Forum participants and local residents to learn more about the venerable history, traditions, and culture of Oman,” Kobyakov said.

Partner country status at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) includes a whole range of business and cultural programme events. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to preparing for the event and strategies for how to most effectively position Oman within SPIEF 2024.

“Mutual interest testifies to the new chapter we opened on business co-operation last year and the new phase of political dialogue we’ve entered into, one that was already based on trust. Oman’s participation in SPIEF as guest country will serve as an opportunity for us to establish direct contact between Omani and Russian companies, build up mutual trust, find common ground, and chart new paths for strategic co-operation,” Hamood bin Salim Al Tuwaih said.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg on 5–8 June. The event is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of nationwide and international conventions; exhibitions; and business, public, youth, sporting, and cultural events. It was established in pursuance of a decision by the President of the Russian Federation.

The Foundation was established in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential, promoting its national interests, and strengthening the country’s image. One of the roles of the Foundation is to comprehensively evaluate, analyse, and cover issues on the Russian and global economic agendas. It also offers administrative services, provides promotional support for business projects and attracting investment, helps foster social entrepreneurship and charitable initiatives.

Each year, the Foundation’s events draw participants from 208 countries and territories, with more than 15,000 media representatives working on-site at Roscongress’ various venues. The Foundation benefits from analytical and professional expertise provided by 5,000 people working in Russia and abroad.

The Foundation works alongside various UN departments and other international organizations, and is building multi-format cooperation with 197 economic partners, including industrialists’ and entrepreneurs’ unions, financial, trade, and business associations from 83 countries worldwide, and 286 Russian public organizations, federal and legislative agencies, and federal subjects.
