Muscat: The Supreme Committee charged with examining the mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Corona Covid-19 virus related to prohibiting the movement of people and vehicles will take effect from tomorrow, Saturday 7 pm, to 4 am until 15 May, excluding previously announced categories
The committee’s decision regarding the ban on all commercial activities throughout the day will start from tomorrow, Saturday, until the end of the next Saturday, May 15 , with the exception of food stores, gas stations, health institutions and pharmacies are excluded from the ban , and home delivery services for all goods are allowed during the aforementioned ban period.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Committee also decided, in its last meeting, not to hold Eid prayers and traditional Eid markets, and to prohibit gatherings of all kinds in various locations, including beaches, parks and public parks, during the days of Eid al-Fitr, and include gatherings of families, greeting gatherings, and collective celebrations of Eid.
These decisions came after the committee studied the epidemiological situation in the Sultanate in light of the latest data about the virus and its various strains, and the statistics of the infected and those in the wards and intensive care rooms in various hospitals in the Sultanate in addition to the numbers of deaths, and to protect all members of society from this disease.
The Supreme Committee affirmed that the measures taken to deal with the pandemic aim primarily to protect society from this epidemic and its great health risks that may lead, God forbid, to death, and that everyone adheres to these measures, especially avoiding gatherings during the remainder of a month. Ramadan and the blessed Eid al-Fitr days are guaranteed to protect the individual, his family and his community from these dangers, and that they are constantly reviewing their decisions according to developments in the epidemiological situation.
The official account “OmanVsCorona” issued an explanation on Wednesday regarding the decisions of the Supreme Committee issued on May 2, and the clarification included a list of activities and individuals excluded from these decisions that will be implemented in the period of time (8-15 May 2021) according to the following:
