OIA-Supported Dates Project Launched in Nizwa
Nizwa: Oman Agriculture Development Company today inaugurated the Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex, a strategic project that reflects investment models with direct economic value and social impact, while contributing to the development of Omani date-processing industries.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA).
The project aligns with the OIA’s strategy to transform national resources into high value-added products and to maximize returns from integrated value chains through investment in vital and priority sectors.
The Nizwa Dates Industrial Complex occupies a building area of approximately 35,000 square metres, with an annual production capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes, in addition to a storage capacity of 30,000 pallets using various storage methods, including frozen, chilled, and dry storage.
The complex comprises processing halls covering 18,000 square metres, incorporating all post-harvest operations, from receiving, weighing, sterilization, and storage to sorting, packaging, and processing.
All operations at the complex adhere to the highest quality and food safety standards. The project has obtained several international quality certifications and has adopted environmentally friendly solutions, including the use of solar energy and water recycling systems.
Oman Agriculture Development Company, a subsidiary of Oman Food Investments, specializes in developing and implementing strategic agricultural and food projects aimed at enhancing food security and strengthening agricultural value chains in the Sultanate of Oman.
