Oman Participates in 10th Meeting of GCC Ministers of Social Affairs and Development in Doha

Doha: Represented by the Ministry of Social Development, the Sultanate of Oman participated today in the 10th meeting of the Committee of GCC Ministers of Social Affairs and Social Development.

Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, headed Oman’s delegation at the meeting, which was held in Doha. The meeting discussed the 5-year Social Development Strategy for GCC countries (2021-2025), the GCC states Joint Charitable and Humanitarian Work Plan (2025-2030) and the Joint Action Strategy for Women’s Affairs in GCC countries (2024-2030).

On the sidelines of the meeting, Oman’s Ministry of Social Development organized the Gulf Family Day Forum 2024, titled “The Family is a Nation’s Wealth”.

At the forum, the Ministry showcased the most prominent family development services and programmes it provided with the aim of enabling the neediest groups to participate in building the nation.

It also outlined social services it rendered to various segments of society during the stages of their lives and highlighted its role in establishing effective partnerships between the government and civil society institutions. Later, a ceremony was held to felicitate parties that undertook major projects in the field of social and civil work in GCC states. – ONA
