OCCI participates in the 12th Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum in Athens
Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) reviewed the potential role of the Omani private sector and its leadership of a competitive economy linked to the global economy, as part of its participation in the 12th Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum in the Greek capital, Athens, where the Chamber emphasized the investment opportunities provided by the pillars of Oman Vision 2040.
The forum’s program included holding a dialogue session between the heads of the participating Arab federations and chambers of commerce with their Greek counterparts on ways to increase trade exchange, develop mutual investments, and transfer knowledge and technology between Greece and the Arab countries.
Eng.Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reviewed the most prominent aspects of the growing economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Greece, which witnessed an increase of 175% in 2022 compared to 2021.
The volume of Omani exports to Greece in 2022 reached approximately 50 million US dollars. The engineer added that the Chamber’s participation in the Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum came from the standpoint of strategic directions consistent with Oman Vision 2040, as the Chamber worked, during its participation in the working session entitled (Greece and the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries), to introduce the incentives and investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman, especially in the dependent sectors. It is necessary to achieve economic diversification. The Chamber, in turn, stressed the importance of concluding partnerships between the Omani private sector and its Greek counterpart, which works to expand the business base in the Sultanate of Oman.
Sheikh Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Hinai, an expert in improving government services in the Oman 2040 Vision Implementation Follow-up Unit, indicated that participation in the forum’s work confirms the importance of the competitive economy and national programs in the Oman 2040 Vision. He reviewed the positive results of the Sultanate of Oman in international indicators. Al-Hinai stated that the rapid developments and global geopolitical changes enhance investment opportunities.
