NCSI Represents Oman at GCC Statistical Work Committee Meeting in Riyadh
Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), participated in the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee for Statistical Work in the GCC, held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 10 to 11 December 2025.
The meeting brought together heads and directors of national statistical offices in GCC member states, as well as representatives from relevant regional entities.
The Committee discussed several priority topics related to joint GCC statistical work, including the GCC Joint Statistical Work Strategy (2026–2030), the effectiveness of digital transformation in GCC statistical offices, the document for celebrating GCC Statistics Day, and the proposed technical support plan for national statistical offices for 2026, in addition to other emerging items on the agenda.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a panel discussion titled “International Statistical Standards: The Role of GCC Statistical Offices in Development and Implementation” was organized on 10 December 2025 by the General Authority for Statistics in Riyadh. The session aimed to highlight the role of GCC statistical bodies in developing and applying international statistical standards, while enhancing knowledge exchange and cooperation in the statistical domain.
The discussion addressed key themes, including the harmonization of international standards across GCC statistical agencies, strengthening partnerships with regional and international organizations, and showcasing the contributions of GCC countries to the development of global statistical standards and methodologies.
Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to continue its role as an active partner within the GCC statistical system and to support initiatives that enhance data quality, methodological alignment and the overall efficiency and reliability of statistical indicators across the GCC.
