Oman participates in 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Geneva

Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, participated in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was held in the Swiss capital (Geneva).

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, head of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation participating in the event, said: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the basic document that defines the basic human rights that must be protected globally, and a reference guide that all peoples and nations should aim for, as it paved the way. To adopt many international and regional human rights conventions and treaties, in addition to the provisions they contain becoming a basic pillar of basic systems and laws in various countries of the world.

Among them is the Basic Law of the State in the Sultanate of Oman, which contains within it the text of all the provisions contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, most notably: “Life and dignity are the rights of every human being” and “Equality for all before the law and in public rights and duties and non-discrimination between people in this on the basis of gender or Origin, color, religion, homeland, or social status,” and “A safe life is the right of every human being,” and “The family is the foundation of society, based on religion, morals, and patriotism, and the state works to ensure its cohesion, stability, and consolidation of its values.”
