Bandar Seri Begawan: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Information, today participated in the Brunei Darussalam Book Fair 2024, as part of strengthening cultural ties with Brunei and celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This reflects the strength of bilateral relations and confirms the commitment of the two countries to enhance sustainable cooperation, especially in the cultural field, which is a bridge for communication and exchange of knowledge between the two peoples.
The manuscripts corner in the Sultanate of Oman pavilion received wide attention from visitors to the exhibition, as it displayed rare manuscripts that narrate important aspects of the Sultanate of Oman’s cultural history and highlight its contributions in various intellectual fields. Interactive workshops were also organized to introduce the public to the art of Arabic calligraphy, which provided an opportunity for visitors to experience writing in this ancient art and learn its basics, in a step that emphasizes the importance of preserving traditional arts and passing them on to future generations.
Her Excellency Ambassador Irma bint Said Al Kathiri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in this exhibition comes to enhance the cultural dialogue between the two countries, and opens a window on the richness and diversity of Omani heritage, adding that this participation coincides this year with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, which enhances the importance of this event as a cultural bridge linking peoples.
Her Excellency stressed that the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion reflects a state of intellectual and cultural renaissance, and that the diversity of the publications on display highlights the extent of the interest that the Sultanate of Oman pays to supporting the cultural and creative movement.
Visitors to the exhibition, from different nationalities, praised the cultural content offered by the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion, which reflects the development of the scientific and literary renaissance in the Sultanate of Oman, stressing that such participation enhances cultural communication and opens the way for more understanding and cooperation between countries.
