HH Sayyid Asa’ad delivered a speech at the closing session in which he stressed that the Sultanate of Oman lays emphasis on the significance of joint action and that Oman agrees with the vision of the Indian presidency on establishing “One Future” for human civilization, notably at a time that challenges are expected to emerge in the forthcoming years. HH Sayyid Asa’ad expressed Oman’s welcoming of the remarkable efforts exerted along many tracks aimed to define the map of global skills and diminish the inherent gap between those skills and the requirements of the labour market.
HH Sayyid Asa’ad pointed out that the dedication of digital infrastructure to serve all nations will play an important role in realizing sustainable economic growth, noting that this is consistent with Oman’s approach. He added that Oman welcomes initiatives to provide all means of making knowledge accessible to all. He reiterated the stance that Oman agrees with G20 countries to devise safe, reliable and well-established principles for digital economy.
HH Sayyid Asa’ad expressed appreciation for the Republic of India’s inviting the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the 18th Summit of G20. He observed that the gesture reflects the depth of relations between the two friendly countries. He also congratulated India on the successful landing of its spacecraft on the moon, a development he described as “a great achievement and a turning point towards a promising future”.
Prior to the closing session, HH Sayyid Asa’ad and his delegation joined other delegates in visiting the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi. They placed a bouquet of flowers on the monument to mark the visit.
The 18th summit of the G20 carried the slogan “One Land, One Family, One Future” and focused on the issue of sustainable development, in addition to measures to spread economic growth in a more balanced way between developed and developing countries.
The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the summit at the invitation of India consolidates Oman’s position as an active partner in development and prosperity, regionally and internatinally. – ONA
