Oman participates in G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in India

New Delhi: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Foreign Ministry, participated in the meeting of the G20 foreign ministers, held in the Indian capital New Delhi today. Oman is invited as a guest of honour during the G20 meetings.

The meeting was held within the context of India’s presidency of the G20 meetings.

Oman’s delegation was led by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.

In his participation during the meeting, Sayyid Badr touched on the Omani perspective on peacemaking, with its guiding principles firmly established for more than thousand years of practical experience in sharing waters of the aflaj (ancient irrigation system or water channels) reflecting the values ​​of dialogue, tolerance, non-interference and good neighbourliness.

He underscored the importance of taking into account the concerns of the countries of the south in the world, He expressed his confidence that the intensive multilateral participation could focus on addressing the multiple crises facing countries worldwide in terms of supply chain disturbances, debt distress and political issues, as well as climate change related challenges.

The meetings were attended by Issa Saleh Al Shibani, Ambassador of Oman to India, Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (Chief Coordinator for the participation of the Sultanate of Oman in the G20 meetings), Khalid Hashil Al Muselhi, Head of the Minister’s Office Department and officials at the Foreign Ministry.
