Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and a number of government and private establishments, is participating in the international technical conference “LEAP Riyadh 2023”, which started today in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and will last for several days.

Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said in a dialogue session at the conference that the event lends force to the National Programme for Digital Economy.

Al Maawali pointed out that the programme constitutes a roadmap for the growth of digital economy in Oman aimed at generating new opportunities for the digitalization of businesses, achieving the government’s digital transition and attracting technical investments to Oman.

The minister underscored the comparative advantage of Oman’s geographical location, the availability of submarine cables linking the East with the West, and the business environment capable of attracting major international companies specialized in modern technologies, notably providers of cloud service.

Through its participation in “LEAP Riyadh 2023”, Oman aspires to market local companies specialized in the field of communications and information technology and promote them in regional and global markets. Oman also seeks to showcase its digital transformation initiatives.

In this context, the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises will organize an exposition on the sidelines of the event on tomorrow Tuesday to portray the capabilities of 21 Oman start-ups. A symbolic group of 21 Omani start-ups will be under the limelight. – ONA
