Oman Electricity and Energy Conference to start from Tuesday

Muscat: The third edition of the Oman Electricity and Energy Conference will begin next Tuesday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, which will review the mechanisms for implementing the Sultanate of Oman’s plans for energy transformation with local and international participation.

The opening of the conference will be sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Head of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

The conference, organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Raya Services and Business Company in partnership with Nama Group, aims to create an effective platform that contributes to building national cadres and competencies, exchanging technical expertise, and reviewing the latest developments in the energy sector.

The conference discusses several sub-topics, including the future of the sustainable energy sector, development of transmission and distribution networks, access to energy efficiency, asset management, digital transformation, and smart grids. Over the course of three days, participants in the conference will review the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in the field of energy transformation, reducing carbon emissions, and securing energy supplies in a way that supports economic diversification paths.

The conference includes many working papers, visual presentations and specialized discussion sessions with the participation of experts and specialists from various concerned parties, in addition to a number of workshops that discuss the challenges facing the electricity and energy sectors.

Eng. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al Wahaibi, Head of the Electrical and Energy Division at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, explained that this year’s conference will be held under the title “Mechanisms for Implementing the Sultanate’s Energy Transformation Plans,” and will review many important topics, including the latest developments and policies for the energy sector, among others.

He added that the conference will be attended by 60 speakers from electricity and energy experts from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, and the workshops will address topics such as grid flexibility, energy storage systems, smart grid solutions, the use of hydrogen in power generation from electricity turbines, and others.

The conference will include an accompanying exhibition featuring the latest technologies and solutions in the energy and electricity sectors, in addition to an open platform for speakers, researchers and students to present their research and study results in this field.
