Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has been ranked among the best Arab countries in which a road trip can be taken, according to a new index issued by the German website, Holido, which specializes in travel and trips.

The Sultanate ranked 37th globally in the index, which includes 118 countries around the world, and was ranked with Egypt, Morocco and Algeria as the best Arab countries in terms of land trips.

The classification indicated that the Sultanate is among the best countries in the world in terms of road quality, has 5 sites classified on UNESCO’s World Heritage Lists, 406 different animal species, and has vast areas of roads and land through which to take enjoyable wild trips.

The United States of America topped the index, followed by Mexico, followed by Canada.

With nearly 40 million miles of roads around the world, it is difficult to determine the best places for road trips, but a variety of factors were identified that anyone looking to plan an important road trip, then countries around the world were selected. The world ranks the best for these factors.

He added that this included attractions such as UNESCO World Heritage sites, wildlife, natural assets, landscape range, and number of cosmopolitan cities in the country, as well as logistical factors including road quality, gas prices and average holiday rental prices.
